Two Thousand Seventeen
Today, my natal day, and all the days between,
I give my thanks for ups and downs along the way.
Now we have arrived at twenty seventeen,
time to live the present, day by day.
Not in my hands, surprises held in store,
and my imagination cannot span,
the days to come, the gain be less or more,
only seeing when I get there if I can.
And "there" only a landmark on the way,
trial or adventure lies in how I choose,
to view the world with every passing day.
My Father, show me how my time to use.
Today, today, I start out twenty seventeen;
show me the way; let no expectation block,
today, hereafter, and what lies between,
passing with the ticking of the clock.
